Kate Peterson Koch CPDT-KA
Kate Peterson Koch is originally from St. Louis, Missouri (USA) and has trained dogs in a professional capacity since 2007. Her dog training interests include solid basic foundations for puppies and adults, behaviour modification for shy and fear-reactive dogs, and training assistance dogs. Kate apprenticed under trainers Kim Lutz CPDT-KA, CDBC and Tracy Buck CPDT-KA, KPA-CTP while working full time in the holistic pet industry as a manager, buyer, and training coordinator. In addition to training at Kayenna Kennels, Kate is an evaluator and apprentice service dog trainer with Hope Heels, and a qualified list service dog evaluator for the province of Alberta.
Kate has competed in earthdog, barn hunt, racing/coursing and rally obedience over the years with her Dachshunds, and looks forward to pursuing new sports and activities with her Golden Retriever, Gilda. Kate also founded and co-directed the Gateway Lo-Downs social Dachshund club in St. Louis where many friendships were made and endure to this day.
Kate attended the Oberlin Conservatory of Music (Ohio) and Webster University (Missouri) and holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Composition with a minor in Music Theory. She taught piano and classical voice full time for many years and can still be found playing piano or accordion sometimes. Kate also runs a strategic marketing business called Ding Dong Ditch Designs. When she isn't training or playing with dogs, she can be found spending time with her family (daughter Martha Clem and partner Franklin, a geophysicist), often hiking, playing games, making things, or juggling.
