Lauren Alexander RDAII, DCBC, CPDT-KA

My name is Lauren and I am the owner of Kayenna Kennels Inc.  and the handler of Keyna, Kaysa, Kamaya and Karma

My love for Golden Retrievers began when I was only 14 years old. I was working my first job and saved all my money to purchase my first Golden named Sandie -Unfortunately not knowing any better as a teenager I purchased my Golden off the internet. She taught me many lessons and I will always thank her for introducing me into this wonderful world of Goldens - I was hooked on this amazing, beautiful and intelligent breed!

After high school, I began looking into CKC Registered Golden Retrievers and soon found my heart dog -  Keyna. She has the most amazing personality and I have Connie Riches (Autumnrich Kennels) to thank for this wonderful girl. Keyna is an intelligent, funny and patient dog. Keyna has taught me so much and even though she didn’t turn out to be the "Show" prospect I was hoping for, her intelligence has opened me up to a whole other world of training - Rally Obedience! RallyO has enabled me to bond to Keyna in ways normal training could never do. I have learnt to understand how she thinks and use it to my advantage in training, creating such a strong bond.  I will forever love Keyna and she will always be my heart dog.

When Keyna was a year and a half I brought Kaysa into our family. I flew down to California on a snowy February day to bring back this amazing girl from Judy Inman (Promise Kennels). Kaysa has allowed me to enter into the amazing world of dog shows, and I fell in love with the show world the moment we stepped into the ring at our very first show.
Not knowing much about showing I entered into this completely blind, I had never even groomed a dog before! I was eager to learn and without the help of Connie Riches I never could have come this far so fast. Connie guided me through the grooming every step of the way, allowing me to present Kaysa beautifully. I started handing classes with Kaysa at only 4 months old and it was so much fun. We learned together becoming an unstoppable team. Throughout the months of training Kaysa and I created this amazing bond together. Kaysa will always have a place in my heart as my teacher, my first show golden and the dog who allowed me into this prestigious world of showing and breeding.

I worked full time as a Dental Assistant in Calgary -  Finishing my diploma in 2010. My original goal was to become a dentist but soon decided my love for dogs is more rewarding.

I have since Graduated from  an intensive Dog Trainer Apprenticeship Program which took me over 18 months to complete with over 300 hours of hands on experience.

I teach Puppy Kindergarten, Basic Obedience Classes, Canine Good Neighbour, Rally Obedience, Tricks and offer Private Training. I am also available for temperament testing of litters for breeders - I follow the Volhard Aptitude Test.

I am one of only three Instructors and Evaluators in Alberta for C.L.A.S.S - Canine Life And Social Skills Obedience Courses.

Approved evaluator through the Canadian Kennel Club for the CGN Certificate. (Canine Good Neighbour).

I am in good standing with the Canadian Kennel Club, and a member of the Golden Retriever Club Of Canada & Golden Retriever Club Of Alberta. I am also a member of Association of Professional Dog Trainers.
